As an independent artist, social media activity can take quite a chunk of time out of my day. Hunting for exciting content or trying to come up with new material every day to post on my social media pages can be difficult. To be honest, before coming up with a strategy, I had a hard time thinking of things to say. I had a hard time posting consistently and staying relevant. So I sat down for hours one day and put together a list of every content idea I can think of, perused around on other musician Facebook pages and came up with a full content calendar that makes my life so much easier.
MY NEW CONTENT CALENDAR HELPS ME TO:
– Post fresh content to social media every day
– Save time by not having to reinvent the wheel every time I look at my social media pages
– Establish a great rapport with my fans by being consistent
– Not be an annoying self-promoting artist
I created this Social Media Content Calendar to tell me what to write about and to keep up with my daily content posting. It’s simple and easy to use. This has been such a huge help and time-saver to me! I hope it will be the same for you.
Here’s a breakdown of what the spreadsheet includes:
- 3 Full Months of Plug-and-Play Content Ideas for every day of the week including Sundays
- Ideas to help keep your fans engaged
- A complete list of hashtag theme days
- Links to resources for other promotions ideas
Content ideas are already separated by day for you. Each idea is fully customizable and every artist will have a twist on how they post, but the idea is to keep it consistent. Since the calendar is only 3 months worth of material, you can separate the year into quarters and recycle the ideas every three months with newer content. This way you can use the calendar the entire year.

After using this calendar, I found that my fan engagement increased! Everyone loved the material and I was able to start engaging new fans right away because my content remained fresh. I spent time trying to come up with engaging ideas that will help you relate more with your fans. I’m offering it to you with no strings attached. It’s hard for people to become fans of our pages, when they know all we’re going to do is promote our stuff and not post meaningful content. It just looks bad for all of us. In fact, I wrote a post challenging other independent artists to revamp their social media strategy, showing why it’s important and how to do it. Check it out here.
All in all, doing social media the way it was intended will reap benefits for independent artists. People are looking to connect and this calendar will make it easy to do just that!
This social media calendar is a Google Spreadsheet. Copy into your google drive, or download it onto your computer as an Excel spreadsheet and get to work.

What if U CAN’T use Facebook? What if U aren’t allowed on Chat-Rooms like it or Twitter or even Snap-chat? What do ya do then?
Hi Brooke. This is a good question. If you’re limited in what you can do on the internet, take it to the real world. After all, that’s where we make the most engaging connections anyway. Try not to focus on what you don’t have. But, focus on what you do have and what you can do. If I were you I’d start building my fanbase with my personal network, friends, and people you meet everyday. Share with them your music and plan smaller events in your local town or even at your school. Start with what you have.
I feel limited. I can’t go on almost ANY social media and I don’t even have a PHONE! I haven’t even had any inspiration 4 songs OR poems lately! Why do things happen 2 me……?
Hi Brooke. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing some blockage. You’re in good company! We all experience limitations and blockages throughout our music journey. My only piece of advice is to stay the course and keep looking for opportunities to share your art. Creativity ebbs and flows. It comes in seasons. Be sure to clear your mental space, think positive thoughts, and set your intentions to your crafts. This will open you up for whatever opportunities are for you! Best wishes to you!
Well, at least I finally have a flash-drive… I’m gonna ask 4 more when Dad asks what I want 4 my birthday again. Matt or Will might be able 2 find some 4 me. I’m gonna ask for my $2 from Mom soon as well.
